Meet the Coaches


COACH  PROCTOR
Coach Antoine is originally from Washington DC. Coach Antoine grew up playing basketball for AAU programs in the DMV and played high school basketball at both Woodlawn High School and Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, MD. After high school, Coach Antoine received and accepted a scholarship to play basketball at Sheridan College in Sheridan, WY where he played for two years. Coach Antoine graduated with his associate degree form Sheridan College which gave him eligibility to play division 1 basketball. Coach Antoine then accepted a full-ride scholarship to Sacramento State to continue playing basketball. After Coach Antoine’s junior year at Sacramento State, Coach Antoine opted to transfer to Montana State University-Billings to be closer to his family. Coach Antoine lead MSU-B to their first ever GNAC championship. While at MSU-B, Coach Antoine received both Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-West Region. After having a successful senior season at MSU-B, Coach Antoine continued playing basketball oversees. He played one season for MBK Handlova in Slovakia and one season for Tindastoll in Iceland.

Coach Antoine moved to Denver, CO in 2019. He coached at Smoky Hill High School in Aurora, CO for the 2020-2021 season while also coaching AAU basketball for the Colorado Hawks. Coach Antoine coached under the Colorado Hawks for 3 years and in 2022, Coach Antoine’s Colorado Hawks basketball team transitioned to playing under Woodz Elite. With much success playing on the Made Hoops Circuit, Coach Antoine’s basketball team/program was asked to partner with ADIDAS to become the first ever ADIDAS sponsored middle school basketball program. 

Coach Antoine is the founder and one of the coaches of Team Colorado. He coaches Team Colorado 2028. In addition to coaching the 2028 team, Coach Antoine is also the head sophomore coach and varsity assistant at Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, CO. Coach Antoine’s wife name is Kelsey Proctor and together they share two sons, Darian and Drake.

COACH NANCE
Coach Kerwin Nance was born and raised in Clovis, New Mexico. Kerwin had a successful High School Basketball career making three state appearances in three years of Varsity. One state finals appearance. Kerwin earned a full ride to Cochise Junior College in Douglas, Arizona and played for Hall of Fame Coach Jerry Carrillo. There he made one Regional Championship appearance and earned his Associates Degree in General Studies in May 2003. He was recruited and received a full ride to continue his basketball career and education at Colorado State University-Pueblo under Coach Joe Folda. He obtained his Bachelor’s in Biology with a Minors in Chemistry and Exercise Science and Health Promotions. 

His academic success led him to be accepted into the NIH Bridges to a Doctorate Program and was awarded a full scholarship to earn his Master’s degree. He moved his wife and young daughter to Aurora, Colorado in July of 2009. 

He has worked in multiple positions over the past 12 years with the City & County of Denver. His love of basketball led him to a seven year career as an IBAOO Certified Varsity Basketball Official and two years as a 100 level official. Making two state appearances. His officiating journey ended when he had to make the decision to pursue a career as an RMAC Men’s Official or Coach for his own kid’s who had developed their own love for basketball. He has been Coaching now for over ten years in youth basketball with over 6,000 hours of volunteer service. 

He has worked:
 • Four seasons as a Girls Varsity player development Coach.
 • Four years as an Aurora Public School Middle School Head Girls and Boys Basketball Coach.
 • Two years as an Aurora Public School Middle School Head Track & Field Coach.
 • Two years USA Basketball Gold Coach.
 • Two years as an assistant Girls Coach on the Select 40 Circuit with the New Mexico Clippers.

COACH TRUJILLO
Coach Jarrad Trujillo has been coaching youth basketball for 14 years with clubs teams and feeder programs. He believe that being a positive influence with kids and making an impact in their lives is what coaching is all about.

COACH SMITH
Coach Tyrell Smith is the Head Varsity Coach at Douglas County High School. He was hired in 2018 by ex-NBA player and past Douglas County coach, Earl Boykins, to be the sophomore coach. In 2019, Tyrell was promoted to Head Varsity Assistant Coach under Coach Clayton Comstock. In 2021, the team made it to the Elite 8 in the state tournament, which was the furthest the school has ever been. 2022 began a new journey, as Coach Tyrell was promoted to Head Varsity Coach after Coach Comstock stepped down. Coach Tyrell has led the program to back-to-back state tournament appearances and is looking to continue to build and grow the program.

Tyrell, who is a Yonkers, New York native, moved to Georgia in high school. He realized playing at the next level was not going to be in the cards, but his passion for playing was directed into training and coaching kids. Coach Tyrell began coaching and training while in high school. While attending Langston University in Oklahoma, coach Tyrell was asked to assist the women's basketball team as a student trainer under Coach Tony Greene. After college, Tyrell moved to Colorado with his soon to be wife, Da'Janai Smith, and now three kids, Tyson, Alayah and Amiyah.

Coach Tyrell began coaching and training basketball in Colorado in 2013 with various programs and players. In 2018, while coaching at Douglas County High School, Coach Tyrell started his own club program called Prolific Elite. The club won their very first tournament and showed a glimpse of what was to come. From 2018 to 2024, the program became one of the top programs in Colorado. In 2024, Coach Tyrell merged his Prolific Elite program with Tru Colorado and is looking forward to amazing things to come.

COACH STEVE
Coach Steve grew up in a small town in Northern Kentucky. He played his youth basketball for a Kentucky AAU team and played high school basketball at Highlands High School. Coach Steve played in two State Tournaments at Rupp Arena, home of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He loves being a part of youth basketball. Helping boys grow into young men is his goal.

COACH HARTSFIELD
James Hartsfield is the Head Coach of the Cherry Creek High School Basketball Teams. He is passionate about athletic excellence and developing the leaders of tomorrow. James is uncompromising in his approach to building character and holding our athletes accountable inside and outside of the classroom.
